Co-designed with asthma clinicians and patients, these resources are aligned to the 5 pillars of SENTINEL: healthcare professional education, gold standard prescribing practices, targeted asthma reviews, patient support and education and real-time data monitoring and reporting. These resources will help you with everything from initially identifying patients with SABA-overuse, to collecting data to show the impact of SENTINEL Plus implementation in your area.

HEALTH PROFESSIONAL
EDUCATION
It's important that education is delivered to everyone involved in the management of asthma patients, including those involved in the prescribing or issuing of asthma treatments.

GOLD STANDARD
PRESCRIBING PRACTICES
Participating practices are asked to implement the SENTINEL Plus prescribing Gold Standards and are advised to include review of these prescribing standards within a rolling audit programme to promote good practice.

TARGETED ASTHMA
REVIEWS
Focused asthma reviews are recommended for patients with frequent short-acting beta 2 agonist (SABA) use, delivered and managed around practice capacity.

PATIENT SUPPORT
AND EDUCATION
Appropriate patient education and support materials should be provided to the patient after their asthma review, alongside an asthma action plan.

REAL TIME DATA MONITORING
AND REPORTING OF METRICS
SENTINEL Plus recommends using publicly available prescribing data to establish baseline prescribing practice and track changes in practice following implementation.
